Privacy Policy

PDF Vault is engineered so that your documents never leave your device. This page explains exactly what we do and don't collect. Last updated: September 25, 2026.

Don't just take this page's word for it — verify it yourself using nothing but your browser's own developer tools.

1. Your files are yours

Every tool in PDF Vault — merge, split, compress, OCR, sign, protect, convert — runs 100% in your browser. Your PDFs, images, and Word documents are opened as in-memory buffers, processed locally with WebAssembly and JavaScript, and written back to your device. We have no server that receives your files. There is no upload API.

2. What we store on your device

We use your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage to remember recent files, saved signatures, your Pro status, and — if you opt in — local usage analytics. This data never leaves your device. You can wipe it any time by clearing your browser storage or by pressing "Reset" on the Analytics page.

3. What we collect on our servers

Your documents are never sent anywhere. What does reach a server is limited to running the website:

  • Request logs at our hosting provider (IP address, timestamp, requested URL).
  • Anonymous page-view statistics from our hosting provider: which pages are visited, the referring site, general browser and device type, and a random session identifier, so we can see how many people use the site. It never includes your files, file names, or anything you type into a tool.
  • Checkout. Stripe's payment script loads only when you open checkout to buy Pro, not on the rest of the site. Stripe processes the payment under its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies for fraud prevention while you pay.

We do not run advertising networks, cross-site trackers, or fingerprinting scripts, and we do not sell or share data.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe under their own privacy policy. We receive the minimum information required to grant you a Pro license (subscription status, plan, and email). We never see your card details.

5. Cookies

PDF Vault does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser's storage to remember preferences, a first-party session identifier for the anonymous page-view statistics described above, and a sign-in session if you create an account. Stripe may set its own cookies during checkout.

6. Your rights

Because we do not collect your documents or profile them, most GDPR/CCPA rights (access, deletion, portability) apply to the small set of billing data held by our payment provider. To exercise them or ask a question, email us at privacy@getpdfvault.com.

7. Changes

If we change this policy in a material way we will update the date above and post a notice on the Blog page.
