Watermark PDF

Add text or stamp watermarks to PDF pages locally in your browser. Private, offline watermarking.

PDF Vault adds a text or stamp watermark across the pages of a PDF locally in your browser, with no upload.

Watermarks exist to change how a document is treated: DRAFT stops someone acting on a version that is not final, CONFIDENTIAL sets an expectation before anyone reads a word, and a recipient's name discourages onward forwarding.

You control the text, its opacity, rotation, and which pages it lands on. Everything renders locally, which matters given that documents worth watermarking are usually documents worth not uploading.

Nothing you do here is uploaded. The file is read into your browser's memory, processed by WebAssembly on your own machine, and written straight back to your downloads folder. You can confirm it yourself: open DevTools, switch to the Network tab, and run the tool — there is no request carrying your document, because there is no server endpoint to receive it.

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Load the PDF you want to mark.
  2. Type the watermark text, such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or a recipient's name.
  3. Adjust opacity, rotation, size, and position until the preview looks right.
  4. Choose whether it applies to every page or a specific range, then export.

What you get

  • Full control of appearance. Text, size, angle, opacity, and placement are all adjustable.
  • Page ranges. Mark the whole document or only the pages that need it.
  • Live preview. See the result before committing to an export.
  • Batch-friendly. Pro removes the daily limit when you are marking many documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can a watermark be removed by the recipient?

A visible watermark is drawn into the page content, so it is not a checkbox someone can untick. It is a deterrent and a labelling tool, not encryption — if a document must not be readable at all, use Protect instead.

Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?

This tool applies text watermarks. To overlay a logo, place it as an image using the editor.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes, specify a page range and the rest of the document is left untouched.
